Oil fields burn, bodies stink in rubble of destroyed cities, millions of Third World migrant workers (and children) panic and, globally, the poor either suffer worsening starvation or, anticipate food insecurity. Many countries in the Global South have already declared ‘energy emergencies’ or similar national contingencies, with Sri Lanka among the world’s early responders (already burdened with a financial crisis).
