Troops tasked to secure Jakarta trial amid wiretap scandal

JAKARTA — Indonesian authorities tasked thousands of police and military personnel to provide security for a trial involving former president Joko Widodo on Thursday, as tensions in Jakarta remained high over allegations that top officers had been involved in intercepting his successor’s telephone conversations.
