YEARS back before the pandemic, at a public history conference the presenter, a senior faculty prohibited someone from getting his phone from the table, thinking he would take a photo of the slide, and she/he should get permission. In a public history conference??? The person that was called out, although his/her junior was a fellow plenary speaker, felt humiliated.
