From “Star Trek” to “Degrassi,” many franchises have spun off stories featuring new generations of characters. That’s the idea behind “Patlabor EZY,” the latest series in the “Mobile Police Patlabor” anime and manga franchise that debuted in 1988. The first three episodes of “EZY” have just been released in theaters as a package subtitled “File 1,” with the remaining five episodes scheduled for August and March 2027, respectively.
