It is frequently employed to sway people’s emotions and empathy over an argument that lacks a foot to stand on. Lately, ad misericordiam has been used by top-tiered politicians who are either facing impeachment charges or are bound to be arrested by the International Criminal Court in The Hague for crimes against humanity.
