ONE of the most fearsome flags in the Philippine Revolution against Spain was the black-colored banner bearing a skull, crossbones and a bold white letter “K.” It was the insignia of Nueva Ecija patriot Gen. Mariano Llanera, who led the attack on San Isidro, Nueva Ecija, laying siege to the town’s Casa Tribunal, arsenal and government buildings.
