A foreign Merchant Vessel ‘MT MAUI’ sailing in the nearby sea area had assisted the Navy in the rescue effort to save an injured fisherman aboard a local multiday fishing trawler off the South coast and rushed him for urgent medical attention. The Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centre (MRCC) Colombo co-ordinated the rescue of the fisherman.
