On the recent school holidays, I travelled east to South Gippsland with my husband and our two children, aged 7 and 9. While we had heard much of the area’s foodie credentials and the magnificent Wilsons Promontory, they weren’t what drew us there. Our getaway was centred on transporting our family to the treasured pages of Alison Lester’s Magic Beach, which was inspired by Walkerville South beach.
