Nearly 90% of Sri Lankans depend on rice as their primary food source, while hundreds of thousands of farming families rely on paddy cultivation for survival. Yet despite its strategic importance, Sri Lanka’s rice sector remains fragile, politically manipulated, and economically inefficient.
