In line with the project to digitize railway services, a pilot project to introduce a digital ticket instead of the traditional physical ticket has been launched at several stations in the Kelani Valley line such as the Baseline Road, Cotta Road, Kirulapone, and Narahenpita. At these stations, the traditional tickets previously issued have been discontinued and instead, passengers are now issued a receipt containing a QR code.
