Pakistan has emerged as the single largest contributor to the global number of people living with hepatitis C, while also ranking among the 10 countries accounting for most hepatitis C related deaths worldwide, according to the World Health Organisation’s Global Hepatitis Report 2026, raising fresh concerns over unsafe injections, reusable syringes and weak infection prevention practices in the country.
