The House Committee on Justice declared the existence of probable cause to impeach Vice President Sara Duterte. Fifty-three lawmakers supported the motion to declare that probable cause exists in the two impeachment complaints. The committee will prepare its report, the resolution, and articles of impeachment. Under the constitution, only the house has the power to initiate impeachment cases and only the senate can conduct an impeachment trial.
