A shocking new item published in one of the leading Sinhala newspapers published last week and according to this news item, annually the Government spends around Rs. 250,000 to maintain one undergraduate while spending around Rs. 300,000 for one Aswesuma recipient. These details had been revealed during a study conducted by the Department of Economics and Statistics of the University of Peradeniya.
