The exuberance of welcoming Ven. Panyakara, his retinue of monks and their dog Aloka to Sri Lanka has been overwhelming to say the least. From the time of their staggered arrival in the past weeks at the Bandaranaike International Airport, the camera focus has been intense. Commentaries are becoming mixed, staying respectful towards the monks but critical of the spectacle the walk is fast becoming.
