Thaji Dias, a principal dancer of the Chitrasena Dance Company, explains that the institution is dedicated to preserving and teaching Sri Lanka’s traditional dance forms. The Kalayathanaya specialzes in the Kandyan dance technique. There are three main traditional dance forms in Sri Lanka, Kandyan, Low Country, and Sabaragamuwa as well as Bharatanatyam, a form with roots in the northern regions of the country.
