THIS year’s Earth Day — April 22 — will have a special significance for Fiji. April 22 is the last day for the public to review and comment on the 1,500-page long environmental impact assessment report for a proposed mega waste-to-energy (WtE) incinerator. The WtE, with a daily maximum capacity of 2,700 tons and a projected 80-megawatt (MW) electricity output, is a project of Australian businessman Ian Malouf and his company The Next Generation Fiji (TNG Fiji).
