The Government has initiated a special housing project to construct 1,000 houses across the country under the “Yathiwara Mapiya Niwahana National Programme” (YMNNP) within this year (2026) for parents of Buddhist priests who entered the Buddhist Order from extremely distant poverty stricken rural villages, Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Deputy Minister Gamagedara Dissanayake said in Parliament.
