The dramatic story of the Graf Spee…a German pocket battleship of WW II, was forcibly brought to memory upon reading Admiral Priyantha Perera’s interesting article in the Daily News of March 20th dealing with the neutrality of the seas. I read the story of the Graf Spee in The Reader’s Digest somewhere in the 1950s and was immediately fascinated by the tale of national pride and courage.
