Affordable energy is a necessity, not a luxury. For Sri Lanka, it is particularly critical, as the country spends billions of rupees each year on fuel imports, while ordinary consumers continue to bear the burden of high electricity costs. In this context, the Renewable Energy Resources Development Plan 2025–2030, approved as a key Cabinet decision last week, is both timely and commendable.
