One may naturally question why Independence continues to be celebrated when hardly any of us alive today have firsthand experience of those bygone colonial times. Interestingly enough, the widespread opinion persists that we might have been better off under British rule rather than being governed by our own Brown Sahibs who took charge with naivety.
