The Anunayake of the Asgiriya Chapter, Venerable Naranpanawe Ananda Thera, stated that Sri Lanka’s independence must be understood as the freedom for all citizens to live and act equally, without divisions based on race, religion, caste, or political affiliation. He emphasised that the nation cannot progress while remaining divided, and called on all Sri Lankans to unite as one.
