The promising middle distance athlete Tharushi Abhisheka of Lyceum International School, Wattala came to the highlight when she set up a new women’s under 20 1500m National record in 4:28.35 seconds at the selection trials for Asian Under 20 Atheletic Championship held at Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium Diyagama last week. Tharushi’s achievement paved her way to qualify for the Asian Junior Athletic Championships to be held in Hong Kong from May 28–31.
