S. Thomas’ College, founded in 1851 by the Rt. Rev. James Chapman, the first Anglican Bishop of Colombo, in Mutwal, quickly established a strong reputation among Sri Lankan schools. Its relocation in 1918 to a scenic site near Mount Lavinia marked a new chapter in the College’s history and further enhanced its stature.
