Founded in 1971 in the Swiss ski resort of Davos mainly as a gathering of business leaders, the World Economic Forum (WEF) has turned into a global get-together for Heads of State and Government, civil society representatives, academics, experts, technology chiefs and journalists. It has also come to symbolise the world’s richest and most powerful or the elite segments of society.
