As widely expected, the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) announced an electricity fare hike from April 1. This was inevitable due to several factors, including the prolonged drought, higher prices for Diesel and Naptha needed for thermal power generation and the lack of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to store excess solar energy.
