Madhamulle Chandrasiri’s work begins with a leaf. He sits with a coconut frond drawn close, a knife in hand, shaving, lifting and layering. The motion does not pause. A neighbour steps in to assist now and then. But the rhythm remains Chandrasiri’s and his alone.
