Sri Lanka has declared every Wednesday a special public holiday for Government employees, schools, universities, and Courts. The directive which was taken a few days ago is an effort to conserve fuel amid ongoing energy shortages. Essential services such as healthcare, water supply, and transport remain operational. The private sector has been encouraged to follow suit.
