The early celebrations over the increase in remittances to Pakistan in the first two months of this year proved short-lived following the US attack on Iran. Now, there are fears of the remittance inflow reducing by US$ 3-4 billion as well as disrupting overseas employment. All this is likely to exacerbate socio-economic challenges in Pakistan which is often described as a financially fragile and politically unstable state.
