The Supreme Court yesterday ordered former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella and four former senior health officials pay a total amount of Rs.275 million to state, after ruling that their actions in a controversial drug procurement deal violated the Fundamental Rights of the public. The ruling came in a Fundamental Rights petition filed by Transparency International Sri Lanka, which challenged the legality of the procurement of human immunoglobulin (Human-IG) and other medicines without a competitive bidding process.
