Unlike in earlier times, undergraduates in state universities across various disciplines are now required to complete internships in private companies. A decade or two ago, students would generally take up part-time work mainly to earn some extra pocket money. This happens without the knowledge of university authorities. In some cases, they were even employed in the public sector unofficially.
