The Lanka Private Bus Owners Association (LPBOA) President Gemunu Wijeratne said that a fare increase of about 15 percent is required in comparison to the increased fuel price. Accordingly, he said, his association is requesting the government to increase the minimum bus fare from Rs. 28 to Rs. 35. He said that about 90 percent of private buses stopped operating yesterday (22).
