Our Court Correspondent The Court of Appeal has ruled that a private television broadcaster could be treated as a “public authority” under the Right to Information Act, holding that entities performing public functions under Government licences may be subject to the Right to Information Act. The judgement was delivered in an appeal filed by Asia Broadcasting Corporation (Pvt) Ltd, which operates Hiru TV, challenging a determination made by the Right to Information Commission of Sri Lanka.
