Former Thurstanite cricketer Sirosha Gunatilake of Trendex Holdings was unanimously elected as the 44th overall and 30th Sri Lankan President of the Mercantile Cricket Association (established in 1911), taking over the baton of leadership.Sirosha played for Thurstan College as an off spinner and late order batsman in 1980 and 1981Among his team mates were Deepal Madurapperuma Sathya Jayasuriya Mahesh Manamperi Tuan Ahamath Dayananda Wijesekera and Amitha Weerakoon.
