The return of the Buddha to Kapilavatthu was not announced with drums or banners. The Vinaya records it with a sense of inevitability. Having attained Enlightenment and established the Order, the Teacher entered his native land. Here was not some prince to reclaim his throne. Here was a sage with a discipline embodied.
