On Sunday morning, many in Sri Lanka awoke to the news that Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro and his wife had been captured by the United States and were expected to appear before a New York court on drug-related charges. While this development came as a surprise to much of the public, it was far less shocking for those closely tracking recent events in the Western Hemisphere.
