Sri Lanka Tourism achieved a remarkable feat just a couple of days ago, with the arrival of the 2.3 millionth visitor to the country. This is an all-time best that surpasses the highest level of arrivals last seen in 2018. But three successive events in the following years led to a slump in visitor numbers – the 2019 Easter attacks, the Covid-19 pandemic of 2020 and the political unrest and economic meltdown of 2022.
