The IMF is expected to begin discussions on the fifth review of the country’s Extended Fund Facility (EFF) in early 2026, IMF sources said. The IMF has taken steps to temporarily postpone the review to assist the Sri Lankan government in addressing the sudden balance of payments and fiscal pressures that have arisen following the devastating Cyclone Ditwah that hit the country on November 28.
