Sri Lanka took a significant step towards modernising its trade governance framework with the inauguration of the Technical Committee on Rules of Origin (TCRO) on 10 December 2025. Established by Sri Lanka Customs in collaboration with the Department of Commerce, the new Committee is expected to enhance transparency, improve inter-agency coordination and align the country’s trade administration with international best practices.
