During a candid interview with Newsweek that took place last week, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake spoke about Sri Lanka’s need for climate finance for the country to adapt to the increasing intensity of climate related disasters and to be able to build resilience in vulnerable communities. Domestically, the country is also considering prohibiting new settlements or any construction above 5000 feet to mitigating extreme rainfall and landslides.
