An oil spill near Colombo Port on 14 December 2025 was swiftly brought under control, preventing a potential environmental hazard. Authorities reported that around 200 litres of crude oil leaked into the sea due to a technical fault during unloading operations. Fuel transfers at the affected mooring have been temporarily suspended while repairs and investigations continue.
