Fifty thousand foreign cigarettes worth approximately Rs. 8 million that were smuggled into the country were seized by the Excise Special Operations Unit, on Monday (08). At the same time, two individuals involved in the smuggling attempt were taken into custody by the Unit, which conducted a raid based on a tip-off that an individual had arrived in Raddoluwa town, Seeduwa, to sell foreign cigarettes.
