Sri Lanka Army personnel jointly with the Irrigation Department officials and farmers in the area are involved in the reconstruction of Elahera anicut across the Amban Ganga temporarily which was damaged due to recent floods by laying sand bags. The Elahera anicut which is a World Heritage site was built by King Vasabha and later developed by other kings stands as a testament to ancient engineering marvels in the Mahaweli Basin.
