Sri Lanka is already one of the world’s hottest countries, with average temperatures of 27°C and 28°C, and they are expected to rise even higher. Extreme heat, floods, and droughts are affecting communities, jobs, and food production. Over the past 30 years, floods alone have caused an estimated US$240 million in damages every year, the World Bank Group’s Sri Lanka Country Climate and Development Report (CCDR) said.
